Integrating Spirituality into Crisis Mental Health Care
in District 3, Batangas Province
A research project headed by De La Salle University – Evelyn D. Ang – Institute of Biomedical Engineering & Health Technologies in cooperation with Kasama sa Kaayusan, Kaunlaran, at Kaginhawaan ni San Isidro Labrador, Inc.


Project Summary:
This study focuses on the importance of Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) during disasters in the 3rd District of Batangas Province. MHPSS is often overlooked in disaster response, especially for the responders while taking into consideration their spiritual aspect. This research highlights the need for MHPSS interventions before, during, and after disasters for responders. Using qualitative methods such as surveys, interviews, and focus group discussions (FGDs) and quantitative method using standardized questionnaires, the study aims to develop a Holistic MHPSS Framework for Disaster Responders: Integrating Spirituality into Crisis Mental Health Care in District 3, Batangas Province. As part of its thrust, this research aims to institutionalize MHPSS in disaster response strategies and contribute to more effective and humane disaster management.
